Convert to MKV

MKV (Matroska) is an open multimedia container that holds multiple audio tracks, subtitle streams and chapters in one file — a common format for HD video archiving. This group transcodes MP4 and WebM to MKV — 2 conversion directions.

Video is encoded as H.264 + AAC. Matroska has no faststart concept and is unsuited for progressive web playback; local playback compatibility depends on the player — VLC and PotPlayer support it natively.
