About ASS to SRT conversion

ASS is the Advanced SubStation Alpha subtitle format, featuring a complete styling and effect system, and is the standard format for fan subtitle groups and special effect subtitles. SRT is a plain-text SubRip subtitle format that only supports plain text and timecodes, has no styling or positioning functions, and offers wider compatibility, which creates the demand for ASS to SRT conversion.

The converted output file is smaller than the original ASS file. Timecodes retain their original precision. Information included in ASS format such as font settings, color styles, strokes and shadows, positioning and rotation, and karaoke effects will all be removed, leaving only plain text subtitle content and the corresponding timeline.

The SRT subtitle converted by this tool can be used in editing software such as CapCut, Premiere Pro, and Final Cut Pro, and is also compatible with various general players on mobile phones, smart TVs, and PCs, adapting to most common editing and playback workflows.

FAQ about ASS → SRT

Will subtitle quality change after conversion

Only subtitle text and timecodes are retained after conversion, original styles and effects are not preserved. The output SRT is a standard plain-text subtitle with no watermarks added, and there is no content distortion.

Will timecode precision be retained

The original timecode precision of the source ASS will be retained. The output SRT follows the standard hh:mm:ss,mmm format, and does not modify the start and end time parameters of the original timeline.

What is the single file size limit

Only one file can be converted at a time. The maximum size for a single file is 50MB. Files exceeding the limit cannot be submitted for conversion.

Will my files be stored or retained

Files are uploaded to the server via HTTPS for conversion. After conversion is complete, the server immediately deletes both the source file and the output file, and does not store any files.
