About VTT to SRT conversion

VTT is the native HTML5 Web caption standard released by W3C in 2010. It uses dots to separate milliseconds in timestamps, and supports basic styling and position settings. SRT is a plain-text caption format from SubRip, which uses commas to separate milliseconds in timestamps, does not support styling or positioning, and is compatible with most players and video editing software, creating demand for format conversion.

This conversion processes source files with a self-developed caption parser, and outputs plain-text SRT format with a smaller file size than the original VTT. The conversion preserves all caption content and original timestamp accuracy, automatically adjusts timestamp punctuation to meet SRT format specifications, and removes VTT native style tags and position information from the output.

The converted SRT works with video editing software including Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro, is compatible with mainstream local players on Windows and macOS, and supports all types of online video platforms. It can be used for workflows such as video editing encapsulation and general caption archiving.

FAQ about VTT → SRT

Will caption quality change after conversion?

Caption content and timestamp accuracy will not change. The conversion only adjusts the punctuation format of timestamps, removes style and position information from VTT that is not supported by SRT, outputs watermark-free files, and the content remains complete and usable.

Will timestamp accuracy be preserved?

The original millisecond-level timestamp accuracy of VTT is fully preserved. Only the dots in the original format are replaced with commas as required by SRT, and the duration and timestamp values are not modified.

What is the maximum single file size?

The upper limit for a single file is 50MB, and only one file can be converted per operation. This service is free of charge, outputs watermark-free files, and can be used without account registration.

Will uploaded files be stored?

Files are uploaded to the server via HTTPS for conversion. After conversion is completed, the server immediately deletes both the source file and the output file, and does not store any files.
