About WebM to MKV conversion

WebM is an open container promoted by Google, a subset of Matroska that only supports VP8, VP9, AV1 video coding and Vorbis, Opus audio coding. MKV is an open Matroska container released in 2002 that can encapsulate any coding and multi-track content. This conversion meets the requirement of adapting to MKV archiving scenarios.

This conversion uses FFmpeg for container remuxing, does not re-encode the original video and audio streams, retains the original resolution and original frame rate, and retains all audio tracks contained in the original file. The size of the output file changes very little compared to the original file, and the quality does not change.

The converted MKV file is suitable for workflows such as media server archiving and local media library organization. It is compatible with PC players that support MKV playback. Some smart TVs and mobile devices do not natively support MKV playback, and require a third-party player.

FAQ about WebM → MKV

Will the image quality decrease after conversion?

This conversion only remuxes the container, does not re-encode the original video and audio, and does not change the original image quality. The video quality of the output file remains consistent with the original WebM file.

Will all original audio tracks be retained?

All audio tracks contained in the original WebM file are completely retained in the output MKV file. No audio track information is lost, and no audio tracks are automatically removed.

What is the single file size limit?

This site only converts one file at a time, with a maximum single file size of 50MB. Files exceeding this limit cannot be submitted for processing.

Do you store my files?

Files are uploaded to the server via HTTPS for conversion. After conversion is completed, the server immediately deletes the source file and output file, and does not store any files.
