About AVIF to JPG conversion
AVIF was released by the Alliance for Open Media in 2019, based on AV1 intra-frame encoding, supporting lossy and lossless compression, alpha channels and animated sequences. JPG was released by the JPEG organization in 1992, a lossy compression format based on DCT discrete cosine transform, does not support alpha channels or animation, and is compatible with all devices. This conversion is used to adapt to legacy devices.
At the same visual quality, the output JPG file size is approximately twice that of the original AVIF. Alpha channel information contained in the original AVIF will be lost. For animated AVIF, only the first frame is extracted for conversion output. EXIF metadata is retained by default, and the quality parameter controls the JPG compression ratio.
The converted output JPG is compatible with all devices, browsers and software. It is suitable for opening and use in older environments older than Chrome 85, Firefox 93, and Safari 16, and can also be inserted into office documents that do not support the AVIF format.

FAQ about AVIF → JPG
Will image quality decrease after conversion
With reasonable compression parameters, the subjective image quality after conversion is close to the original AVIF. At the same file size, JPG image quality is weaker than AVIF, which is caused by the difference in compression efficiency between the two encoding formats.
Will the original AVIF transparency be preserved
The alpha channel will not be preserved. The JPG format itself does not support alpha channels by design. During conversion, transparent areas are filled with a white background by default for output.
What is the maximum single file size limit
The single file conversion limit of this tool is 50MB, and only one file can be converted at a time. This tool is free of charge, output files have no watermarks, and can be used without registering an account.
Will uploaded files be stored
Conversion is completed on the server side, files are uploaded via HTTPS. After conversion is completed, the server immediately deletes both the source file and the output file, and does not store any files.
