About MPG to MP4 conversion
MPG is an MPEG-1/2 program stream. MPEG-1 is mostly used for VCD, while MPEG-2 is mostly used for DVD and digital television. It is a common format for old camcorders and VCD rips. MP4 is a general-purpose MPEG-4 Part 14 container that supports playback on all platforms, so there is demand for converting old MPG files to MP4.
The conversion is implemented based on FFmpeg. It preserves the original video resolution, and remuxes the original audio track into the output file. Video quality is controlled via the CRF constant quality mode. Adjusting the CRF parameter changes the balance between output file size and picture quality.
This conversion is suitable for turning MPG files captured by old camcorders or extracted from VCD/DVD into files that can be played directly on Windows 10 and later systems, mobile devices, and web players. It requires compliance with limits: single file size does not exceed 50MB, and original video duration does not exceed 10 minutes.

FAQ about MPG → MP4
Will the picture quality change after conversion?
You can control output quality by adjusting the CRF parameter. A lower CRF value produces higher output quality and a larger output file size. The conversion is processed via FFmpeg and does not force compression that causes quality loss.
Will the original audio track be preserved?
The conversion process preserves the audio track from the original MPG file, re-encodes and remuxes the track into the output MP4 file. It does not remove the audio track by default, and meets normal playback requirements.
Is there a file size limit?
This site requires a maximum single file size of 50MB, only one file can be converted per conversion. Additionally, the original input MPG must have a video duration of no more than 10 minutes. Files exceeding the limits cannot be processed.
Are files stored after conversion?
Files are uploaded to the server via HTTPS for conversion. After conversion completes, the server immediately deletes both the source file and output file, and does not store any files.
