About BMP to JPG conversion
BMP is an uncompressed bitmap format released by Microsoft in 1990. JPG is a lossy compression format based on DCT released by the JPEG organization in 1992. BMP files have excessively large sizes that are not friendly for storage and transmission, so there is a demand to convert BMP to JPG to reduce file size.
The output is a JPG file after conversion, with a file size approximately one-fifth to one-third of the original BMP. Original EXIF metadata from the BMP can be retained. JPG does not support alpha channels, so transparency information from the original BMP will be lost. Adjusting compression parameters changes the output file size and image quality.
This conversion is suitable for file optimization in legacy BMP workflows from old Windows systems. The output can be used for web images, mobile phone album storage, and general office document illustrations, and can be opened normally on all devices and in all software after conversion.

FAQ about BMP → JPG
Will image quality decrease after conversion?
There is a certain amount of image quality loss after conversion. JPG itself is a lossy compression format, while BMP is an uncompressed raw bitmap. Compression parameters can be adjusted to change the output image quality level.
Will the alpha channel be retained?
The alpha channel will not be retained. The JPG format itself does not support the alpha channel feature, so transparency information contained in the original BMP will be lost after conversion.
What is the maximum single file size limit?
The single file conversion limit for this tool is 50MB. Only one file can be converted at a time. The service is free of charge, output files have no watermark, and no account registration is required.
Will my files be retained?
Files are not retained. Files are uploaded to the server via HTTPS for conversion. Immediately after conversion is completed, the server deletes both the source file and the output file, and does not store any files.
