About CAB to ZIP conversion
CAB is a Windows installation package compression container launched by Microsoft in 1995. It supports three compression algorithms: MSZIP, LZX, and Quantum, and is mostly used for system components and legacy installation media. ZIP is a general-purpose archive format released in 1989 that is natively supported for decompression on Windows and macOS. CAB cannot be read directly in some scenarios, so there is a need for conversion.
The conversion is processed based on the 7-Zip engine. It preserves the complete directory structure of all files in the original CAB package, and the output ZIP uses DEFLATE per-file compression with a general-purpose compression ratio. The converted ZIP can be natively decompressed by all mainstream operating systems, and no additional content is added.
This conversion is suitable for extracting files from legacy Windows driver packages and installation packages, and allows devices that do not support CAB reading to decompress the content directly. The maximum single file size for conversion is 50MB. Requests will be rejected if the total uncompressed size exceeds 256MB or the number of files exceeds 1000.

FAQ about CAB → ZIP
Will conversion affect file quality?
This is a lossless archive format conversion. It does not change the content or quality of the original files in the package, and only modifies the outer container format. The conversion is processed based on the 7-Zip engine, and the result can be used normally.
Will the original directory structure be preserved?
The conversion completely preserves the directory structure in the original CAB compressed package, and does not arbitrarily modify file paths. The output ZIP is compatible with all mainstream decompression tools and can be used directly across platforms.
What is the single file size limit?
The maximum single file size for conversion with this tool is 50MB. A security limit is also set: processing will be rejected if the total uncompressed size exceeds 256MB or the number of files exceeds 1000.
Will uploaded files be retained?
Conversion is completed on the server side. Files are uploaded via HTTPS, and the server immediately deletes the source file and output file after conversion is completed, without storing any files.
