RAR is a proprietary archive format introduced in 1993. It can only be decoded by the official UnRAR, its encoding specification is not open, and it offers higher compression ratio with solid compression. ZIP is an open archive format released by PKWARE in 1989, it uses DEFLATE compression per-file and has wider native system support, which creates demand for converting RAR to ZIP.
This conversion is processed based on the 7-Zip engine. The directory structure of original files is preserved after conversion. The solid compression feature of the original RAR is replaced with per-file compression used by ZIP. The content of original files will not be changed. This conversion only modifies the archive container format, does not modify the original files inside the archive, and does not add any extra watermarks.
Will the original directory structure be preserved?
The directory structure of files inside the original RAR archive will be preserved. After extracting the converted ZIP, the file hierarchy is exactly the same as the original RAR archive.
What is the single file size limit?
The maximum size for a single input file is 50MB, only one file can be converted per conversion. Processing will be rejected if the total extracted size exceeds 256MB or the number of files exceeds 1000.
Will uploaded files be stored?
Files are not stored. Files are uploaded to the server via HTTPS for conversion. After conversion completes, the server immediately deletes both the source file and the output file, no storage is performed.
