About PDF to WebP conversion
PDF is a document page layout and exchange standard released by Adobe in 1993, and became the open standard ISO 32000 in 2008. WebP is an image format released by Google in 2010 based on VP8 intra-frame coding, designed to provide smaller file sizes for web images. Users often need to export PDF pages as WebP images for use.
This conversion extracts PDF pages to generate WebP images, preserves the original data of embedded images in the source PDF without additional compression. In lossy compression mode, the generated file size is approximately 70% that of a JPG with the same image quality. It preserves transparency information from PDF pages, and supports converting multi-page PDFs into WebP animations.
Generated WebP files can be opened directly in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari 14 and later. It is suitable for scenarios such as web layout and social media imagery. Confirm your Safari version is 14 or higher to open the output file.
