About HEIC to WebP conversion

HEIC is an implementation of the HEIF standard using HEVC encoding, and has been the default photo format for iOS 11+ iPhone since 2017. WebP is an image format released by Google based on VP8 intra-frame encoding, supporting both lossy and lossless compression. Most legacy systems do not natively support HEIC, converting to WebP improves compatibility.

This conversion is processed based on the Sharp engine. Output WebP retains the original image EXIF metadata, and the full color depth of the original HEIC image is preserved. When outputting lossy WebP, the file size is slightly larger than the original HEIC at the same quality level, and the output compression quality can be adjusted via parameters.

The converted WebP can be loaded normally in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari 14+, and is suitable for web image display scenarios. Windows 7 and earlier systems do not natively support WebP, and require a third-party image viewer to open.

FAQ about HEIC → WebP

Will image quality change after conversion

You can adjust compression parameters during conversion. When set to the same quality level, the output WebP quality has minimal difference from the original HEIC. Processing is based on the Sharp engine, which does not add extra damage to original image details.

Will EXIF metadata be preserved

The conversion process retains EXIF metadata from the original HEIC file, including shooting time, camera parameters and other information, and does not automatically clear metadata during conversion.

What is the maximum single file size

This tool sets a 50MB size limit for single conversion files, and only supports converting one file at a time. Files exceeding the size limit cannot be uploaded and converted.

Will my files be stored

Conversion is completed on the server side, files are uploaded via HTTPS. After conversion is complete, the server immediately deletes both the source file and the output file, and does not store any files.
