About WAV to Opus conversion

WAV is an uncompressed linear PCM encoding encapsulated in the RIFF container. As a standard intermediate format for audio editing and recording, its file size is about 10 times that of MP3 with the same content. OPUS is a low-latency lossy encoding standardized by IETF in 2012, with a bitrate range of 6-510kbps, suitable for voice and real-time scenarios. Conversion can reduce file size.

The conversion outputs an OPUS encoded file, with bitrate adjustable within the range of 6-510kbps. The sample rate and channel count preserved in the original WAV can be fully retained, and the metadata tags of the original file are carried over to the output file. The file size can be reduced to between one tenth and one fifth of the original WAV.

The converted OPUS file can be used for VoIP, online audio playback, and mobile device storage. It is suitable for workflows that require controlling file size while ensuring audio availability, and supports playback on all players compatible with the RFC 6716 standard.

FAQ about WAV → Opus

Will quality decrease after conversion

OPUS is a lossy encoding, and quality changes with the set bitrate. Higher bitrate results in smaller quality loss, lower bitrate results in smaller file size. This conversion completes encoding processing based on the FFmpeg engine.

Will the original channel count be preserved

The channel count of the original WAV file will be fully retained, and the sample rate parameters of the original file are also preserved. Conversion does not actively change the basic parameters of the input audio.

What is the single file size limit

The maximum size of a single file for conversion on this site is 50MB, and only one file can be converted at a time. Conversion requests exceeding the limit will be rejected.

Will you store my files

Conversion is completed on the server side, files are uploaded via HTTPS. The server immediately deletes the source file and output file after conversion completes, no storage is performed.
