About WebM to GIF conversion
WebM is an open video container promoted by Google, a subset of Matroska that can encapsulate VP8/VP9/AV1 encoded video and is royalty-free for use. GIF is a limited color-depth image format released in 1987 that supports multi-frame animation. This conversion is used for compatibility with legacy environments that do not support WebM playback.
The output GIF has a fixed maximum width of 640px and a maximum frame rate of 20fps. It retains the loop playback property of the original WebM animation and removes the original audio track. The output GIF only retains a 256-color palette, supports 1-bit transparency, and has a smaller file size than the original WebM video.
The conversion result can be used for forum emojis, animated blog illustrations, and animated post publishing on legacy social platforms. It is compatible with all mainstream browsers and image viewing software. Note the width and frame rate limits for output GIFs; outputs wider than 640px cannot be generated.

FAQ about WebM → GIF
Will image quality change after conversion
Image quality will change after conversion. The original WebM video supports full color, while the output GIF is limited to 256 colors with a fixed maximum frame rate of 20fps. Color banding will appear in gradient areas.
Will the original video audio track be preserved
Audio tracks are not preserved after conversion. The GIF format does not natively support storing audio content. The conversion process automatically discards audio data from the original WebM file, and only outputs animation frames.
What is the single file size limit
On this site, the maximum single file size for this conversion is 50MB, and the maximum duration of the original WebM video is 10 minutes. Files exceeding the limit will be rejected for processing.
Will my files be stored
Files are not stored. Files are uploaded to the server via HTTPS for conversion. Immediately after conversion completes, the server deletes both the source file and output file, and retains no data.
