About HEIC to AVIF conversion
HEIC is an implementation of the HEIF standard using HEVC encoding, and has been the default photo format for iOS 11+ since 2017. AVIF is an image format released by the Alliance for Open Media based on AV1 encoding, which currently has wider native support, so there is a demand for format conversion.
At the same image quality, the file size of the converted AVIF is comparable to that of the original HEIC. It can retain the alpha channel, EXIF metadata and color depth of the original file. The conversion quality parameter directly controls the compression rate and image detail restoration of the output AVIF.
The converted AVIF can be loaded natively in Chrome 85+, Firefox 93+, Safari 16+. It is suitable for web image storage and cross-device image sharing. Version compatibility should be confirmed in advance for older browsers.

FAQ about HEIC → AVIF
Will image quality degrade after conversion
When reasonable compression parameters are set, the image quality loss after conversion is barely visible to the naked eye. The two formats have similar file sizes at the same image quality, and no additional image detail is sacrificed for compression.
Will the alpha channel be preserved
The alpha channel of the original HEIC file will be preserved. The AVIF format natively supports alpha channels, and the conversion process does not crop or modify this information.
What is the single file size limit
The single file size limit is 50MB, and only one file can be converted at a time. You need to wait for the current conversion to complete before uploading a new file for processing.
Will my files be stored
User files are not stored. Files are uploaded to the server via HTTPS for conversion. After conversion is completed, the server immediately deletes the source file and the output file.
