About JPG to TIFF conversion

JPG is a lossy compressed image format based on DCT discrete cosine transform released by the JPEG organization in 1992. TIFF is a standard format for the printing industry launched by Aldus in 1986 that supports lossless compression. This conversion meets the requirement of lossless image storage for printing and publishing.

The generated TIFF file after conversion is larger than the original JPG file. The output supports LZW lossless compression, and retains the EXIF metadata contained in the original JPG. JPG does not support alpha channels or animation, so no corresponding content will be generated after conversion.

The conversion result is suitable for printing plate making and professional scanning archiving scenarios. It can be opened in professional design and publishing software such as Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat. Browsers cannot directly display the converted TIFF file.

FAQ about JPG → TIFF

Will image quality decrease after conversion

The conversion process does not introduce additional quality loss. The conversion is processed based on the Sharp engine, the output TIFF uses LZW lossless compression, it only converts and stores the original JPG encoding into TIFF format, and does not further compress the original image.

Will alpha channels be preserved after conversion

Alpha channels will not be preserved. The original JPG format itself does not support alpha channel storage, and the original file does not contain this content, so the converted TIFF file will not contain an alpha channel either.

What is the maximum single file size limit

The maximum single file size limit for this conversion service is 50MB. Only one file can be converted at a time. The service is free of charge, output files have no watermarks, and can be used without registering an account.

Will uploaded files be stored

Your files will not be stored. The conversion is completed on the server side, files are uploaded via HTTPS. After the conversion is completed, the server will immediately delete both the source file and the output file, and does not store any files.
