About AVI to MP3 conversion

AVI is a RIFF container introduced by Microsoft in 1992, used to encapsulate audio and video content with audio. It is not an audio encoding format itself. MP3 is a lossy perceptual audio coding standardized in 1993, all of its patents expired in 2017. This conversion extracts the audio track from AVI and encapsulates it into MP3.

The output MP3 bitrate can be manually adjusted between 64kbps and 320kbps. The original audio sample rate and channel count are preserved, as well as the embedded ID3 metadata tags in the original audio. No extra metadata is added to the output.

This conversion is suitable for extracting dubbing, narration or interview audio from AVI files captured by old DV devices and dashcams, and adapts to audio playback scenarios on various players. Single AVI file size must not exceed 50MB, and video duration must not exceed 10 minutes.

FAQ about AVI → MP3

Will the audio quality change after conversion

Yes, it will change. This conversion performs encoding based on FFmpeg. Higher output bitrate results in smaller quality loss and larger output file size; noticeable quality loss occurs when the bitrate is below 128kbps.

Will the original ID3 tags be preserved

ID3 metadata tags from the embedded audio in the original AVI will be preserved. The conversion process does not modify or add metadata, and no extra information is added to the output file.

What is the upload file size limit

The maximum size for a single file is 50MB. Only one file can be converted at a time, and input video duration must not exceed 10 minutes. Files exceeding the limit will be rejected.

Will my files be stored

No files are stored. Files are uploaded to the server via HTTPS for conversion. After conversion completes, the server immediately deletes both the source file and the output file, and retains no files.
