About Opus to MP3 conversion
Opus is a low-latency encoding standardized by IETF in 2012, integrating SILK and CELT with a bitrate range of 6-510kbps, designed for voice and real-time communication scenarios. MP3 is a lossy perceptual encoding standardized in 1993, all its patents expired in 2017, and it is universally compatible with all devices. Conversion demand arises from insufficient device compatibility for Opus.
This conversion outputs MP3 format. The output bitrate can be selected between 32-320kbps, the channel count and sample rate of the original Opus are retained, and the Vorbis Comment metadata from the original Opus can be mapped and converted to ID3 metadata for MP3. Higher output bitrate results in smaller sound quality loss.
The conversion output is compatible with all playback devices with MP3 decoding capability, including old car players, feature phones, and consumer audio devices released before 2000. It is suitable for workflows that require playing Opus recordings on general-purpose devices.

FAQ about Opus → MP3
Will sound quality change after conversion
There will be some sound quality loss after conversion. Opus has higher encoding efficiency than MP3 at the same bitrate. This tool performs conversion based on FFmpeg, and supports selecting output bitrate in the range of 32-320kbps.
Will original audio track information be preserved
The original sample rate and channel count are preserved. Metadata tags from the original Opus file are converted to MP3 ID3 metadata and written to the output file.
What is the maximum single file size
The maximum single file size processed on this site is 50MB, and only one file can be converted per conversion. Files exceeding the size limit will be rejected.
Will uploaded files be stored
Files are uploaded to the server via HTTPS for conversion. After conversion completes, the server immediately deletes both the source file and the output file, and does not store any files.
