About MP4 to M4A conversion

MP4 is a general-purpose MPEG-4 Part 14 media container that can encapsulate both video and audio streams. M4A is a dedicated container within the same container system that only stores audio streams, designed for pure audio content. This conversion extracts and independently stores the audio stream from MP4 files.

This conversion is processed based on FFmpeg. The output bitrate for AAC encoding can be adjusted between 64kbps and 320kbps. Original audio metadata tags are preserved, and the output retains the original audio sample rate and channel count, with a smaller file size than the original MP4.

The generated M4A can be used directly in iTunes libraries and all Apple devices. It allows you to extract and store voiceover content from video lectures and movies separately, and complies with the import rules of iOS local audio players.

FAQ about MP4 → M4A

Will the sound quality decrease after conversion

If you select output at the same bitrate as the original audio, there is no noticeable change in sound quality. This conversion only extracts the audio stream without re-encoding when using the same bitrate. Selecting a lower output bitrate will reduce sound quality; higher bitrates deliver better sound quality at the cost of larger file sizes.

Will original audio metadata be preserved

By default, audio metadata stored in the original MP4 is preserved, including title, artist, album and other tag information, which can be read and displayed normally in M4A-supported players after conversion.

What is the maximum supported file size

The single-file limit on this site is 50MB, and the video duration of the input MP4 must not exceed 10 minutes. Files exceeding the limit cannot be submitted for processing.

Will my files be stored

Conversion is completed on the server side. Files are uploaded via HTTPS, and the server immediately deletes both the source file and output file after conversion completes, and does not store any files.
