About MP4 to WAV conversion

MP4 is a MPEG-4 Part 14 container, typically encapsulating H.264/H.265 video with AAC audio, designed for general network playback. WAV is uncompressed linear PCM audio encapsulated in a RIFF container, and is the standard intermediate format for audio editing. Extracting audio from MP4 and converting to WAV meets professional editing requirements.

The output WAV uses 16/24-bit linear PCM encoding. Its file size is about 10 times that of an MP3 of the same duration, it preserves the original audio sample rate and channel count, WAV has no compressed bitrate settings, and original audio metadata tags can be preserved in the output file.

This conversion is suitable for preprocessing for professional audio editing software such as Audacity and Adobe Audition, to extract audio tracks from MP4 videos for post-editing and creation. Note that output WAV files are large, so reserve enough storage space.

FAQ about MP4 → WAV

Does audio quality change after conversion

The conversion outputs uncompressed linear PCM audio, with quality identical to the audio embedded in the original MP4, and no secondary quality loss occurs. The conversion only extracts the encapsulated audio and re-encapsulates it into WAV.

Can the original channel count be preserved

It can preserve the channel count and sample rate of the audio in the original MP4 without additional modifications, and the output WAV retains the metadata tags of the original audio.

What is the maximum file size limit

This site supports a maximum single file size of 50MB, and the maximum duration of the input MP4 video is 10 minutes. Files exceeding the limit cannot be submitted for processing.

Will uploaded files be retained

Files are not retained. Conversion is completed on the server side, files are uploaded via HTTPS. After conversion is complete, the server immediately deletes both the source file and the output file, and does not store any files.
