About MP3 to WAV conversion

MP3 is a lossy perceptual coding standardized in 1993, with a bitrate range of 32-320kbps. All its patents expired in 2017, and it is compatible with all devices. WAV is an uncompressed format that stores linear PCM in a RIFF container, serving as the standard intermediate format for audio editing. This conversion is used to restore editable lossless audio material.

The output is uncompressed linear PCM, usually with a bit depth of 16bit or 24bit. The file size is approximately 10 times that of the original MP3. The original sample rate and channel count are preserved, all ID3 metadata tags from the original MP3 are retained, and no bitrate adjustment parameters are applied to the output.

The conversion result is suitable for secondary processing in audio editing software such as Audacity and Adobe Audition, and can be used for post-recording editing and audio effect processing. The converted WAV is compatible with all mainstream operating systems and playback devices.

FAQ about MP3 → WAV

Does conversion improve audio quality?

Conversion does not improve audio quality, it only decodes the compressed MP3 into an uncompressed WAV format. As an editable lossless intermediate format, WAV facilitates subsequent audio processing operations.

Do you retain original ID3 tags?

All ID3 metadata tags from the original MP3 are fully retained, along with the original sample rate and channel count. No basic audio parameter information is modified.

What is the maximum file size limit?

The single file conversion limit on this site is 50MB, only one file can be converted at a time. The service is free of charge, output files have no watermarks, and no account registration is required.

Are my files stored?

Files are uploaded to the server via HTTPS for conversion. After conversion is completed, the server immediately deletes both the source file and the output file, and does not store any files.
