About MP3 to OGG conversion
MP3 is a lossy perceptual audio coding format standardized in 1993, with a bitrate range of 32-320kbps. All its patents expired in 2017, and it is compatible with all devices. OGG is an open-source, royalty-free container format developed by Xiph.Org, typically holding audio encoded with the Vorbis codec. It delivers better subjective audio quality than MP3 at the same bitrate, and meets the compatibility requirements of open-source scenarios.
This conversion allows you to set a custom output OGG bitrate between 64-320kbps. The output retains the sample rate and channel count of the input file. ID3 metadata from the source MP3 will be converted and preserved as Vorbis Comments in the output OGG. Higher bitrates result in larger output file sizes and better subjective audio quality.
The output OGG files are suitable for game engine development such as Unity and Unreal, and as audio assets for various open-source software projects. They help avoid potential licensing risks associated with old MP3 patents. They are not recommended for local playback on outdated portable media players.

FAQ about MP3 → OGG
Will audio quality change after conversion?
Subjective audio quality is slightly better than the original MP3 at the same bitrate. Since MP3 is inherently a lossy format, re-encoding will cause additional quality loss. It is recommended to use a bitrate no lower than that of the original MP3 for conversion.
Will song metadata be preserved?
Yes. ID3 metadata tags from the original MP3 will be converted to the corresponding Vorbis Comment tags for OGG format and written to the output file. Information such as song title and artist can be read normally.
What is the maximum single file size?
The maximum single file size on this site is 50MB, and only one file can be converted per conversion job. Files exceeding the size limit cannot be submitted for conversion.
Do you store my files?
No. Files are uploaded to the server via HTTPS for conversion. Both the source file and output file are deleted immediately from the server after conversion completes. No files are stored on our servers.
