About MP3 to AAC conversion

MP3 is a lossy perceptual MPEG-1/2 Layer III coding format standardized in 1993, with a bitrate range of 32–320kbps. AAC is the successor to MP3, delivers better sound quality at the same bitrate, and is the standard coding format for HLS streaming and digital broadcasting. This conversion meets the requirements for streaming playback compatibility.

Converted AAC files are smaller than MP3 files of the same quality. The original sample rate and number of channels are fully preserved, it supports arbitrary bitrate adjustment between 64–320kbps, and ID3 metadata from the source MP3 can be preserved in the output AAC file.

This conversion is suitable for HLS streaming production and digital broadcast audio material preparation. It is compatible with native players on all versions of iOS and Android, and works with most smart TVs and in-car audio playback devices.

FAQ about MP3 → AAC

Will audio quality change after conversion?

At the same bitrate, the converted audio quality is better than the original MP3. The conversion is encoded via FFmpeg. If you select a bitrate higher than the original MP3, no additional quality improvement will occur.

Will original ID3 tags be preserved?

ID3 metadata tags from the original MP3 file are fully preserved in the converted AAC file. The original sample rate and number of channels are also fully preserved.

What is the maximum single file size?

This service only converts one file per conversion, with a maximum single file size of 50MB. Files exceeding this size will be rejected for processing.

Is file privacy and security guaranteed?

Conversion is completed server-side, files are uploaded via HTTPS. After conversion completes, the server immediately deletes the source file and output file, and does not store any data.
